Series Information

Part 1: It's All About Relationships (March 8th).  Learn  strategies to build a rewarding relationship with families that will ensure   they remain open to your feedback and stay committed to working together   through challenges and concerns. The reality is, working with others to   educate and care for young children can be difficult, especially when   families show up distracted and stressed, don't check in, linger at goodbye   time, or do not follow program rules or guidelines. Collect easy-to-apply communication techniques that will help you achieve positive outcomes for the   family and your program. Increase the rewards you experience in your work as   you foster bonded connections that last amidst difficulties and help weather   the inevitable challenges that come up. 

Approved for KCF III: Relationships with Families (2.00 Hours)

Part 2:  Communicating Concerns and Challenges (March 15th) - Gain  strategies to effectively and comfortably discuss concerns and challenging   behaviors with families. Collect methods to set the stage for these   conversations before concerns arise. Identify tips and specific helpful   language that will turn these potentially awkward or tense conversations into   comfortable and collaborative discussions. Apply the tools learned to common   real-life scenarios. You will increase your confidence and ease with having   sensitive conversations and ensure the discussions keep others open to your   insight, increase family buy-in, and help maintain your important   relationship with families.

Part 3:  Navigating Conflicts, Cultural Dynamics, and Differences in Caregiving Practices (March 22nd) - Learn   a process to collaboratively and comfortably resolve conflicts and caregiving   differences that inevitably come up when sharing the care and education of   young children. The way adults educate and provide care for children is   driven by personal goals, values, and culture. Explore how cultural   differences and opposing values can fuel conflict. Discover methods to   address issues that come up, work through differences, and set boundaries in   a way that empowers parents and leaves all parties feelings respected and   valued. Increase the likelihood families will be on your team through   difficult discussions and differences in child-rearing approaches and ensure   success for your program and the families you work with.
